He taught himself to use design software as a teenager, when the bands he played in needed artwork for flyers and records. Modernizing the styles of early rock 'n' roll records and punk rock flyers, John creates the foundation for his visual work by hand-manipulating photographs and printed lettering. Utilizing illustrations, patterns and textures, he collages the mediums to visually narrate his themes. His photo work explores the often unforgiving, unseen and reckless world of diy music, street artists & drug culture, but additionally touching on the softness and vulnerability of the worlds innocence. Documenting his travels and friendships shooting only with film, his candid photographic jaunts give you a provocative, raw look into genuine people living their lives, enjoying good times and bad times. John enjoys hand making zines, photographing every day life, collecting Stone Cold Steve Austin t-shirts, books and documentaries about legendary rock 'n roll bands, watching pro wrestling, Seinfeld, traveling & curating art shows. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Outlaw Press is an independent creative house producing handmade zines and limited edition apparel out of San Francisco. Incorporating various influences from the crazy & reckless world of rock 'n' roll, diy street art and metropolitan survival. Our focus is to collaborate with and provide a platform for up and coming artists from all creative outlets through print, exhibitions and online features.
